30th June2004

The CD should finally be out this week.

15th March 2004

Well it's been a while but the CD is on its way and we have a date for its launch. We also have some new gigs so check the Future UK gigs page.

22 July 2003
We are hoping to have the CD ready by November and will have a big launch party in 2004.

22 April 2003
Tara Tierney passed away on the 30th March 2003 after a courageous battle against cancer.

17 December 2002
We have now finished the recording for our new CD - all that's left to do is the production. We're quite excited by this album and feel this is our best yet! We hope you will agree when you hear it. We will launch it early 2003 and are looking for a bigger venue than our last launch so that more of our friends will be able to come. We'll keep you posted on its progress and will post a track listing very soon.

Velvet Fist is a group of a cappella singers who have been making music together for over fifteen years. They aim to bring a fresh approach to politics, combining an exciting and creative sound with intimacy, warmth and humour. The members of Velvet Fist are feminist and socialist and have come together through political activity to find their voice in music. They sing of struggle, liberation, peace and equality.

Velvet Fist perform regularly and previous gigs have included Tony Benn’s 70th Birthday Party in the House of Commons,Oliver Tambo’s memorial service with the ANC choir, a performance on BBC Radio 4 of their musical director Graham Knight's haunting arrangement of the Red Flag and support act to Holly Near at the Raise Your Banners festival of political song in Sheffield.

They've made 3 albums - Green And Purple, The Gloves Are Off and Pulling No Punches. They are supported by the Co-operative Retail Society, London and are available to sing at private and organisational events (email for further info).
